How many goals do you have? Do you know what your goals are? How many of them have you accomplished so far?
If you’re like most people, then the moment you set a goal to aim for, you probably face one, two, or maybe three of these things that stop you from achieving your goals, especially when it comes to the very big goals that are in the top 5 of your list. Unfortunately, most people don’t consciously realize what those three things that are stopping you from pursuing or achieving your goals. As a result, we end up either not pursuing the goal at all or just end up giving up halfway through the journey.
By knowing what these 3 things that are stopping you from achieving your goals, you will have a better chance of achieving your goals.
1. It’s Impossible
This is the main one that I hear the most, and that is “impossible.” Most people give up on the journey towards achieving their goals before they even started because of just one word: impossible.
The thing that you have to realize is nothing is impossible if you put in all your effort to make it happen. If you really want that goal to become a reality, then you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. If your goal is common, then that means someone else has done it before. That means your goal is definitely possible.
It’s just a matter of figuring out what you need to do to get there, what you have right now, what you are missing, as well as putting in the time, dedication, and energy to achieve your goal. So say to yourself next time when you have a goal in mind, “it is possible.” After all, the Goal Striver motto is “Impossible is not an Option.”
2. Fear Of Failure
The next big thing that constantly stops most of us every now and then from achieving our goals is fear, especially our fear of failure. No one is perfect, and it is absolutely fine to fear failure. However, what’s not fine is letting your fear stop you from achieving your goals.
Even the most successful people that we know of today has failed multiple times before he or she was able to be where they are at today.
Keep on trying and keep on going!
With that in mind, there is nothing to be embarrassed about if you do fail. You don’t know what will happen until you try.
Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the electric light. Do not be discouraged if you fail a few times – Napoleon Hill
Fear is merely a gatekeeper to success.
Always do what you are afraid to do. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
3. Obstacles And Roadblocks
Finally, the last thing that is probably stopping you from achieving your goals is most likely obstacles and roadblocks in life – whether it will be mental, emotional, financial, physical, etc.
We as human beings tend to get overwhelmed and discouraged when something like this happens to our normal day-to-day lives. A small minority will face it or maybe even welcome it, while others will back away and eventually quit pursuing their goal.
One of the things that you must realize is achieving your goal will never be easy. If it was so easy, everyone would be successful. Not only that, sometimes what you see as an obstacle might not even be an obstacle towards achieving your goal.
Identify the obstacle and figure out what it’s in your way – seriously. If you can give yourself a good and legitimate answer as to why, then it probably is an obstacle. If not, then it’s not an obstacle.
Find out if there’s a way to avoid the obstacle that will allow you to still pursue your goal without quitting. You might even want to consider writing down all your available options as to how you can tackle the obstacle.
Don’t spend too much time on this so be sure to ask others for help. Sometimes others see things that you don’t. If all of the above fails, figure out an alternative route towards achieving your goal.
Now that you know about the 3 things that could potentially stop you from achieving your goals, hopefully you are now able to increase your chances of successfully achieving your goals. Let me know in the comments below if any of these 3 things ever happened to you. I know for sure that they definitely happened to me various times.
